1. Heart

  • The human heart is about the size of a fist and is situated in the chest, slightly to the left of the lungs.
  • Continuous Pumping: The heart is a muscular organ that continuously pumps blood to every part of the body throughout your lifespan. It beats about 100,000 times a day on average, pumping blood through blood vessels that are about 60,000 miles (97,000 km) long and about 2,000 gallons (7,600 liters) in volume.
  • Electrical System: The electrical system of the heart regulates its beat. The electrical impulse that starts each heartbeat and regulates the contraction of the heart is produced by the sinoatrial (SA) node, sometimes known as the “natural pacemaker”.
